How could I know my partner is lactose intolerant say before dining out?

I certanly want to prevent smth like thut to happen since I had friends with this condition b4
If you’re uncomfortable just asking, then maybe ask a random question like "Do you like grilled cheese sandwiches?" or "wanna a glass of milk?". LOL
