How do you deal with dining out with another couple who won’t tip?

My wife and I give generous tips to the server due to this. It is simply embarrassing.

Assuming they aren’t going to tip no matter what you say or do, I would not go out with them anymore, or I’d expect to leave the whole tip. I don’t think I’d want to be associated with a partial tip, as it makes me and my partner look bad.

don’t be affraid to speak up. probably early on they saw you tip generously and just figured you were covering them. you could always tell them you’ve got the meal if they kick in the tip. whatever works for you. just don’t be affraid to speak up

Personally, when the checks come, I would ask my partner what they thought about the service and get their opinion on how much we should leave as a tip. I wouldn’t directly say anything to the other couple unless they start to put in their 2 cents. You shouldn’t pay more for your dinner because they are tightwads.

On behalf of everyone who’s ever bartended or waited tables, "stop dining out with them!" When they are not looking, throw down a few extra dollars before you leave. Otherwise, the next time you visit that restaurant, the staff will assume you are bad tippers also… terrible things can happen.

i have a friend who is a terrible tipper. the thing is he is a server! my husband and i are too!!! we have badgered him and now when we dine out together we pay as a group and make sure the tip is a good one! he even came in to MY restaurant and sat in my section for 2 hours leaving me a really bad tip. later at my house i went completely off on him!!! my husband and i told him this is unexceptable and not to come back to my restaurant and ask to sit in my section if he is going to continue to be cheap. if i were you i’d say something. i mean they are your friends you should be able to communicate with them. let them know how you feel. you might not want to dine out together if this is something you are not able to agree on.

It is always ? I hate it when others who dine with me do not tip..
I always think of the hard work of waiters and never forget to tip.Usually people as such do not dine with me again..I hate tightwads !
Find friends who are a bit similar to both of you..
