10% is what the senior citizens tip and think is acceptable. Well, We don’t live in the 50’s and 60’s anymore. Prices have gone up for everything, and the acceptable minimum tip has increased as well. When a server gets less than 15%, we are getting stiffed, if we gave good service. 20% is the norm for great service, and some people are just cheap. If you can’t tip that, then don’t go to a sit down restaurant and waste our time. There is no such thing as tipping too much.

you suppose to tip 15-20% of bill
but you no what tip as you think fit
you tip more then that ,the next time you go back they will go out of their way to please you..

No such thing. I am a server, and my heart just sings when I get over 20%. I also tip 25% when I go out to make up for the people that don’t tip well.

I guess it all depends on the service…

Tip 15% of the overall bill, minus the tax, in most cases. Depending on the service, 15%-20% is the common range.
Tip an extra 5% (a total of 20%) if the restaurant is a highly rated establishment or if a large party is dining and the gratuity is not automatically added to the tab.
Add the gratuity to the overall bill, which includes alcohol but does not include tax.
Consider scribbling a note on your check if you wish to acknowledge someone on the staff who went out of his way for you.
Leave a lesser tip if you are unhappy with the service. A word with the server, in addition, is also appropriate.
