For me, something has to be very wrong to send it back. Not just because I didn’t like it. But yes - when there is something very wrong, talk to the server. I would first just tell them what the problem is and let them suggest a solution (don’t threaten them by saying "what are you going to do about it") they will usually offer to replace the item, or pick something different.

For me,I would. For example I went to Panchitos here in San Antonio,Tx and while I was eating my menudo I discovered a plastic cover in it.So, I would send it back only if there is something wrong.

If there is something wrong with the food then yes I would. If it’s meant to be served hot, then hot food is what I want serving not something that’s just been pushed to one side for awhile.
I would discreetly have a word with the waiter/waitress first and ask if it can be exchanged, failing that I would ask for a supervisor or manager.

No, watch "Waiting", there have been interviews about this stuff on ABC and other news channels. Unless you want piss and pubes in your food, i’d say no.

It depends, if the food is how it should be or close to it, but you don’t like it, its a no. Returning the item might make a scene or cause unnecessary tension and ruin the moment. But if something is really wrong, well you should talk to the waiter about it.

I had a pizza that contained metal fragments in a fancy restaurant, I mentioned it to the waiter. A new pizza was brouught to me they offered me the dessert and coffee and refused to take my money.

    But this is rare.

Always send you meal back if it is wrong (Cold, wrong meal or a foreign body in it) you are paying them a lot of your hard earned money for it and want what you pay for. However if you piss the Chef off too much make sure he does not do something to your new meall, like spit in it or drop the meat on the floor.

I send it back. I have worked in restaurants for years, and all that bad stuff never happens in real life. I saw someone spit in someones food one time and he got fired for it. Other than that I’ve never seen someone mess with someones food, even if the customer was a complete jerk. So just be polite and discrete and they will happily solve the problem for you. I would rather make the extra effort to prepare another meal than have a customer be unhappy with their meal and not let me fix it. Happier customers treat me better and tip me better.

Yes! If there is something wrong with your meal, send it back. You are paying for it so you should have it prepared the way you want.

I would never think of sending anything back if I didn’t like it. I ordered the meal so that’s my problem.

If theres something wrong with your meal (over/undercooked, foreign object present, etc), you should send it back. No need to be rude about, just let your server know what was wrong with it, and in most cases they will bring you another meal of your choice, and take it off the bill with no problem.

However if I was the one at fault, I dont send it back. If I ordered something new, and it was made correctly and I just personally didnt like the taste/flavor, I dont try to get a free meal out of it. Its the chance of trying new things.

*I agree with the other post, that as much as movies portray nasty things happening in the back of the kitchen, it really doesnt happen as often as you think. I’ve been at my current place of employment for the past 5 years, and I’ve never seen anyone purposely ruin a customers food. In most cases they arent worth losing your job over,

I say if your not going to eat it like it is send it back, politely telling the waitress/waiter what is wrong and how you would like them to fix it. ie-same dish re-cooked, different dish, or taken off the bill. This needs to be done after one or two bites, not after eating half the meal.

Absolutely. If I pay for a product that I am not satisfied with, I return it.
