when you carry out chinese or thai food, do you get more or less quantity than dining there?

seems like you get more when you carry out. what do you think? thanks.

in all the places around here, you get much more when you get take out. Where I used to live several years ago, the take out boxes were much smaller than the plates they served the food for dine-in. So I guess it depends.

In the mall the to-go containers are defenitely bigger than the plates they give when you eat there. you get more rice or noodles, but the same amount of everything else

Too much oil at many places. One buffet has the best selection of seafood around. Another uses too much MSG and oil. Others have quality of meat issues. I prefer fish most of the time with chicken once in a while and I sneak a hamburger at McDonald’s. Can do some of my own.

As for Thai, it depends. I like the satays and yellow curries. One family I worked for made really good food except that the egg fu yung Thai-style had too much ground pork and a bad bowl of soup with a giant pork meatball bigger than a baseball or a matzo ball. I mean, it was huge. Not like a nice set of Scandinavian meatballs. I hate pork, never eat it.

Refuse to make frikadellar. Relatives came over years ago and fried that decrepit stuff up–it’s the Danish national dish–in lard with burnt onion, ground veal and pork. I felt sick and stayed downstairs. I have never liked my aunt on my father’s side of the family after the first time we met.

There’s no Thai restaurant around here, & I’ve never tasted it. But there are a few Chinese ones. I’d say you get less when it’s take-out.
