I pretty much hate flying and feel really unorganised at the moment even though i’m flying in 5 days. 13hrs to hongkong then straight onto an 8 hr flight to sydney.
What would you take/wear on the plane to keep comfortable and entertained?
Any tips would be great thanks, not looking forward to this long journey!
clothes that fit well and are comfy also a good book, mp3 player / ipod with lots of songs and full battery.
inflatable pillow thingy on a long haul flight they normally give a small package containing socks, toothbrush + paste, eye cover and ear plugs
but feel free to take your own if you want also there will be films in your own tv in seat in front of you
Tracksuit bottoms and loose top/t-shirt and most importantly for a flight of this length LOOSE socks. I also took my ipod, psp and bought some magazines.
I hope you have a good flight mine was 13hrs 45mins in a broken seat….was pure hell!
Taking slippers to wear once on the plane instead of shoes is porbably a good idea, think I will do that next time now.
If you are going with someone maybe a travel version of a board game or something simular

make sure you move about to avoid the dreaded D.V.T
Bring a Nintendo DS or a PSP and a few games. Bring a book of puzzles/crosswords.
Don’t wear tight jeans lol. clothes that breathe are good.
Take extra food so you don’t get too hungry. Fresh food is good.. like carrot and celery sticks.
If you need help sleeping take cough medicine, it’ll make you drowsy.

Compression socks that prevent DVT are a must.

Wear loose fitting clothes … jogging bottoms, t-shirt, layering is better. Socks to change into or slippers. Don’t wear anything constricting, ie jeans etc.
If you need specs for reading, make sure they are accessible. Also, make sure you have a pen to hand as you will need to complete an immigration form before you land in Sydney. Also you will need your passport and address of where you are staying.
To pass the time, take your fully charged ipod, ds/psp, books, magazines, water to drink (although you will get this on the plane).
Primarily, relax and don’t forget to ask for extra pillows, blanket, etc. The cabin crew are there to help you (as long as it ain’t BA - they are a miserable bunch - sorry, have had bad experiences with BA both long and short haul flights!)

Definitely comfortable loose clothing and comfortable footwear, DVT socks will help, although they can be restricting, and getting up and walking around is as good as anything else, and it will break the boredom! Take a good book, some magazines, DSlite or PSP, if your travelling with friends, take a pack of cards, puzzle books (suduko, etc..) try not to take too much carry on luggage, you will be tired when you arrive, and having to grab loads of stuff will not be fun!
Try to get straight into the time zone of you final destination, as this will help to combat jetlag.
Also, BA are not a bad airline, neither are most the international carriers flying this route.
