You could also take a doodle with you. DVDs on laptop will certainly help. Colouring books that crayola do (colour wonder?) were popular with my 2 very boisterous boys when they were toddlers! Dont take out new toys, activities etc till he gets a bit restless or bored otherwise you would have used all your options half way! Does he like drawing - you can get a whiteboard type game and use that. Try getting the window seat so he can look out of it.
