How to make learning about medieval towns more entertaining?

I’m doing a report on medieval towns and I’m doing a powerpoint and a 3D model. We have to teach our class about the subject and hand out notes. I’ve done the powerpoint but I want to make it exciting so everyone isn’t bored. Also any tips for building a medieval town and construction would be amazing! Thank you so much!

Medieval is like Robin Hood times right? or in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie her flashbacks or Sleeping Beauty? or shakespeare

If so, COME IN COSTUME!!!! THAT ALWAYS WORKED FOR ME. Your students will PAY ATTENTIon. OH AND I ALSO BROUGHT IN FOOD!!!! (My report I forgot but I think that was medieval times) I had a bread bowl that I had put vegetable soup in (of course I made it awesome by adding fried cut up meat like what you do for tacos, and other seasonings and potato chunks b/c that was the food staple for the poor/peasants). Instead of a big bread bowl I made taht the day before for the teacher (got loads of points b/c it smelled great) and then I had gotten little bread rolls filled with soup for the students. EVERYONE LOVES FOOD.

Also I think I made fried apples (cooked apple slices then coat with sweet pancake batter and then fry. I added powdered sugar and cinnamom on them after placing all the slices neatly on plates.

If you can also get mini barbie doll clothes or have paper cutouts of people in the clothes back then to pass around that’s good also.

I’d add all that to the powerpoint. Plus if you have your friends dressed up they can skip class (teacher will give them a note as long as they do their work beforehand or after school or whatever) and help you and then hang out with you. I did that for another project and we got SOOOO POPULAR AND EVERYONE WANTED TO BE IN THE CLASS and then of course the teacher became really popular b/c that became the class to be in.

Good times GREAT TEACHER!!!

MAKE IT MAGIC you got it!!!

A couple of things to remember concerning medieval towns:

Sewage ran down the middle of the streets in a canal, channel, or conduit, if the town was prosperous the canal was crossed by strategically placed bridges, if not then you jumped or stepped over. The walls were usually constructed with two sides of rocks and inside was refuse, trash, dirt, etc. Most of the buildings were constructed of wood and the roofs were thatched.
The keep, the area inside the castle, was used for the serfs to come to in the case of an attack. The buildings were built narrow and with steeply sloping roofs and against the inside walls of the city to buttress them in the case of attack.

There are some sources listed below on construction …

    Hope this helps …
