Get down on the floor and play with him. You can have him draw pictures for his parents when they get home and have him help you make his lunch. Go outside and play bubbles (the kid I babysit for LUVS this), and read to him. Try not to have to much tv. The boy will have the most fun if you play with him, not just sit him in front of the tv

Sorry but as a parent I would NEVER hire a 13 year old to watch a 3 year old for 6 hours. That is far too long for someone so young in my opinion. I wouldn’t hire a 13 year old for more than 3 hours at the most. There are just too many things that can go wrong that take far more maturity than that of a 13 year old.

Bring games like monopoly or candy land. At my house, we have pinball, and they REALLY like that.

When I babysat, I would do a couple of things that the kids always loved. The first was to make them a treasure map, but hide it and pull it out later… then they have you let you read it to them, because they’re still too young to understand. The treasure could be a couple of cookies or something–and if you bake the cookies with them before hand, that takes up about an hour!

We would also watch movies, but rearrange the furniture and create a little "movie theater" with popcorn and drinks. (They had a big screen tv so it kind of worked… but it can still work no matter what.)

We would also go bug hunting, and they would get disinterested after about 30 minutes (of a bug in a plastic cup with twigs, teaching them about nature) so the bugs are easily returned to where you found them.

Finally, food. If they don’t want to eat, use the "three more bites then we can play" rule. Helps so that they don’t come back thirty minutes later and say "i’m hungry again," because i had some picky eaters, haha.

if he just wants to color, just color… hang the art on their walls or closet door, makes them feel special

It depends what he likes to do and where you are. He may or may not be good at playing on his own, but you do have to keep an eye on him and make sure he’s safe. Ask his parents about what to watch out for, house rules, what he can get to eat, etc. as well as emergency contact numbers.

I’m sure he would love it if you would play with him. You can let him show you what kind of things he likes to do and ask him about his toys. If it’s daytime and there’s a yard, or you can go outside, that could be fun. You could kick a ball back and forth. Most kids like being read to. If he’s getting tired, that might be a good thing to do. There’s not just one way to do this. Try to have fun and he’ll enjoy it too!

hey Kerry, baby sitting at 13 is a really good idea, it helps the person thats baby sitting with life values and its a very good neighborly thing too do , umm… what i would do is maybe watch a movie,play some games but not on the computer because it ruins your eyes (and his) play with lego’s or something like that because that helps with building his mind

Get down on the floor with him and play with his toy cars or action figures, whatever little toys he has.

Read to him.

Go for short walk outdoors. If he has bubbles or other outdoor toys, it will help wear him out too! Fresh air does that.

well i would say games movies crafts parks outside. cleaning...jk. those are the basics i am 11 and i have 2 babysit 4 kids @ 1 time!!!!
