   Epinions.com has plenty of reviews written by everyday ppl on all kinds of different restaurants

   I use zagat or dine ! Dine also has user reviews so it’s very helpful !

   Depending on the city, I’ll use a few sources:

   -For a large city like NYC, I’ll read the NY Times (or local newspaper that has a good food critic).
   -Failing that, websites like egullet and chowhound are typically fairly reliable.

   Offline…I have a couple chef friends who are usually good for reviews of major cities.
